INDIANAPOLIS - Methodist Hospital is adding some high tech equipment at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that could help both injured spectators and drivers. It is basically an ambulance with a small head scanner inside. It has the ability to transmit images over the Internet to any hospital, including Methodist, around the world. It is exclusively used for stroke and head trauma."It moves toward the patient going over the head and neck and then backs off, so the scanner moves over the head and neck of the patient and then recedes and in that period of time of less than a minute it completes the detail of the scan," said Gerald Szkotnicki of Clarian.
Methodist Hospital has not actually purchased the unit, but it is studying it. Similar units are used at other sporting events |
