NeuroLogica wins Canadian OK for CereTom CT scanner

The government of Canada has given medical device approval to NeuroLogica Corp.'s CereTom portable and cordless CT scanner, company officials report.

Receiving the Canadian Medical License will allow the CereTom scanner to be used inside hospitals, walk-in clinics and private practice medical offices throughout Canada.

Eric Bailey, president and co-founder of Danvers-based NeuroLogica, said that 30 hospitals and medical centers in the United States, including Massachusetts General Hospital, and Europe are already using the CereTom in the ER, OR and ICU departments.

The company is opening up distribution networks in Asia and Latin America, and executives say the company will next apply for certification for distribution in markets including Japan, China, Korea, and India.

Founded in 2004, privately held NeuroLogica makes and sells neuro-imaging equipment with an emphasis portable devices.
